Rates and Fees

The following rates have been approved through 02/14/2010. Research that ends past 02/14/2014 is subject to rate changes pending approval by the University of Cincinnati Recharge Council.

Internal rate: $700 hour.

The internal rate is given to investigators funded through the NIH and/or the money is held internally. Investigators from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) will also receive the internal rate.

External rate: $1,127 per hour.

The external rate is given to investigators with funding through foundations, pharmaceutical companies and other private industry and the money is held outside the university.

Test Scans, Free Scans, and Equipment Quality Control

Investigators with funded research studies using the CIR will be allowed to perform test runs of their protocol at no charge to ensure that all hardware and software are functioning properly and that quality data can be obtained. Test scans are allowable only for new research studies, unless the scan protocol changes in order to achieve the research goals. Every investigator is allowed to run test scans under the agreement that no research data are obtained from these test scans and used in reports or publications arising from the research.

Investigators wishing to obtain pilot data for a research proposal that do not have funding can apply to the CIR's Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) for approval. The CIR will provide awards through its general or overhead funds to support meritorious pilot work that is intended to support grant applications for additional work in CIR. Applications to the SAC include a brief two page summary of the research being conducted as well as a time line for the length of the scan and for subsequent grant submission.
